AttrACT at MIPIM in Cannes

With more than 11 billion euros and a 21% growth on the previous year, 2017 set a new record for real estate investments in Italy. This is stated in CBRE’s analysis, that also shows a real boom in the logistics sector (1,2 billion €, +95% in one year) and a solid growth in the offices one (4 bln €, +10%).

International investors are still keen on Italian real estate sector. According to the Outlook 2018 Investment Briefing on Italy, organized by Property EU in the last days, Italy continues to be one of the favourite European destinations especially for American, French and British investors, even after years of high investments.

Offices, logistics and retail are the most required sectors, even though the market offers a wide range of opportunities within the so called “alternative” sectors, where supply is still lacking.

  • Hotel sector for example, that in 2017 reported record investments for the third straight year. Total transactions amounted to 1,6 billion €, with a growth rate of 7% compared to 2016 (as shown in the EY’s study “Italy Hotel investment snapshot 2017” that captures the performance of the Italian hotel sector and tracks the ongoing trends within it).
  • Care homes, a safe bet due to the ageing population, with the number of over 65 people rapidly increasing.
  • Student housing, a sector still at the dawn, and thus representing a great opportunity

The program AttrACT represented a coherent step with the recent trends in the real estate sector, and in line with the challenges that Milan has successfully faced in the last years and the rediscovered dynamism in real estate. In recent years the city has revived thanks to several ambitious projects: the new district of CityLife where the Hadid Tower was inaugurated, the business district in Santa Giulia, the new underground line M4, the renovation of railway yards, the reopening of the canals “Navigli”. In addition, new development opportunities came from projects like Città della Salute e della Ricerca and Human Technopole. In this framework, Regione Lombardia and Unioncamere Lombardia were able to address the emerging needs of the market by introducing an innovative and unique program in Italy, AttrACT. More than a hundred “ready to use” investment opportunities, both land plots and buildings, for a total area of almost 3 million sqm, easily accessible from the online platform www.attractlombardy.it

What better opportunity than MIPIM to show the AttrACT program? The most important Real Estate fair in the world will be the ideal stage to introduce AttrACT’s exclusive features to the most influential actors in the sector. Another proof of the new vitality of Lombardy is shown by the two projects for Milan that reached the final of the Mipim Awards: Porta Nuova for the category “best urban regeneration project” and Feltrinelli Porta Volta, which includes Fondazione Giangiacomo Feltrinelli and Microsoft House, for the category “best office & business development”.

Thanks to the initiative “Greater Milan and Lombardy Region” promoted by Comune di Milano and Regione Lombardia and supported by some important private partners, the main development and urban regeneration projects that are changing the city’s look will be shown at Mipim, the international exhibition of real estate development, finance and investments, that will be held in Cannes at Palais des Festival, from the 13th to the 16th of March.

In the exhibiting space “Greater Milan and Lombardy Region” (included in the Italian Pavilion, managed by ITA-ICE), more than 20 projects submitted by the private entities that supported the initiative will be presented together with the institutional projects (presented by the Region and the Municipality). These private partners are: Arexpo, Beni Stabili, Bizzi & Partner Development, Camplus, Coima, Generali Real Estate, InvestiRE, Lendlease, Lombardini22, Progetto CMR, Risanamento, Gruppo Unipol, Westfield Milano and FS Sistemi Urbani. All the projects and investment opportunities are described on the specific website http://greatermilanandlombardyregion.com/
